[origin: WO9634660A1] The weight of a fire extinguisher (1, 1', 1", 1''') can be reduced and its extinguishing efficiency improved if the extinguishing agent (15) is discharged from a tank (4, 4', 4", 4''') with the aid of a pressurised gas in a pressure tank (6), where the pressurised gas is taken past an aperture (13) in the extinguishing agent tank (4) in such a way that the extinguishing agent (15) is sucked out of its tank (4, 4', 4", 4''') and sprayed with the pressurised gas. In this design the extinguishing agent tank (4, 4', 4", 4''') is not affected by the overpressure of the gas in the pressure tank (6). The extinguishing agent tank (4, 4', 4", 4''') of the fire extinguisher (1) can be light in weight and accept a greater quantity of the extinguishing agent (15). In addition, the pressurised gas can be at a very high pressure (> 150 bar).
