Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0958927A1] The printer is combined with a ribbon cassette (10) containing a printable ribbon and mounted in a holder section with a sliding switch (32) movable between first and second positions. A cassette of a first type with a recess (36) can be inserted without being affected by the switch if the switch is in its first position. The cassette of the first type has a device that moves the switch into its first position when the cassette is inserted, if the switch was originally in its second position. An Independent claim is also included for a ribbon housing.
