[origin: EP0960849A2] A vehicle hoist has two main ramps (20) which lift the vehicle using main hydraulic rams and with a secondary hoist (21) powered by secondary rams to lift the vehicle off the main ramp ie. to access the wheels. The rams are arranged with the cylinders fitted to lift with the rams and with the main rams having their piston rods (3) secured in the base of the pit. The piston rods of the secondary rams are braced on a cross strut (9) which links the cylinders of the main rams. This ensures that the secondary rams move with the main rams.
