[origin: WO9834518A1] The invention relates to a height-adjustable bed (10) comprising several supporting legs (32, 34) which are fitted with castor wheels (44) and which can be linearly displaced along guiding elements (22, 24) of a bed frame (12). The invention provides for a lifting device (92) for displacing the supporting legs (32, 34), which in addition to displacing said supporting legs (32, 34) also moves a braking device (58) from a locked position into a release position and vice versa. The lifting device moves the braking device (58) from the locked into the release position and vice versa both when the bed (10) is lifted to the maximum height and when it is lowered to the minimum height. This allows for an easy and economical construction and makes the bed more comfortable to operate.
