Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0962286A2] The strap wrench has an arm (6,7) and a strap (11). The strap is in the shape of a loop, with opposing sections (11A,11B) cooperating with two opposing zones (14) within the arm. Between the two zones a pad (15) is arranged, not connected to the strap, and including a cylindrical contact face (20). The pad is mounted so as to rock about a geometric axis (16). This axis is arranged so that the pad and strap combine to exert a force to drive the cylindrical object (2) in one direction (F2) and allow a sliding action of the strap on the object in the opposite direction (F1).
