[origin: EP0962703A2] An ionization signal from a sensor is used to adapt the gas-air mixture to different grades of gas. The ionization signal is used solely in an area near a burner's full-load operation for adjusting a transmission ratio. Outside the full-load operational area the gas-air mixture is regulated in relation to the transmission ratio. The area of the first operational stage is between 60 and 100% of the burner's full-load operation.
