[origin: WO9838383A1] The invention relates to a method for designing and/or visualizing at least one roll/felt pair in a paper or carton making machine press, wherein initially a press configuration is selected from quantities provided by a computer system taking into account the specific application and the desired paper or carton quality. In connection thereto, one of the presses of the respective press configuration is selected, wherein relevant output machines and roll parameters of the selected presses are read from a standard data base and displayed. Calculation and display of results of instantaneous drain operation of the selected press is then performed, wherein reference is made to a felt parameter read step from the standard data bank which takes place in the background. The parameters of the machines and rolls of each respective press are modified in order to design the roll/felt pair, wherein the modified drain operation of the respective roll /felt pair is continuously re-calculated and at least partially displayed as a trend. Calculation and display occurs in such a way that it is possible to visualize the results of calculations simultaneously by switching at will from roll analysis to felt analysis and fields are provided in each result display for renewed modification and indications concerning machine, roll and felt parameters.
