[origin: EP0965967A2] The object position detection device has a magnetically-sensitive component (3) connected in an alarm circuit (5), cooperating with a magnet (2) inserted in a magnetic circuit, which is opened and closed dependent on the position of the object, e.g. a cover(1). The magnetically-sensitive component forms part of a test circuit (6) with an electromagnetic device (4) for switching between between the test mode and the position monitoring mode.
