Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0967317A1] To apply a glue to the edges of textile piecegoods, the glue is delivered by a spinning spray action to the fabric edges moving at a set gap above or below the spray jets. The fabric is held with longitudinal tension. The glue contains a solvent with a water base, and especially a plastics dispersion or solution. Before spraying, the glue is heated to a temp. of 20-80 degrees C. The vol. of applied glue is measured, and is controlled by altering the pressure of the glue at a spinning spray jet (23) and/or the air pressure at the jet (23). An Independent claim is included for an assembly with spray jets (23) at least at the edges of the fabric (8) and, if required, at the fabric center. The jets (23) are at a set gap from the fabric (8). Preferred Features: The fabric is held under tension by a stenter, with the spray jets (23) at the level of or behind the spreaders, where the clips have openings for the glue track. The glue applicator station is after the entry zone of the stenter, at the stenter chains. A system across the material releases the fabric (8) from the stenter chains, and smoothes it out, and also carries the glue spray jets (23). Directly after edge spraying, the fabric is returned to the stenter chain clips using a vertical press roller over the stenter clips which have a horizontal forwards movement. The roller can provide underpressure. The stenter chain is fitted with needle cushions (19). The fabric (8) is moved out of the needles (19) and is advanced and held for the edge glue spraying. Press rollers can be within the needle cushions (19), under the fabric (8), with a holding wire on the needle cushions (19) and at one side near the press rollers. The jets (23) are each over the press rollers, using jets as described in EP 0 677 333 A1.
