[origin: EP0967336A2] A drain with plug for domestic applications, e.g. wash basin, bath, has the plug (4) operated by a simple twist action. The drain is fitted with a sleeve with a bell shaped upper end (1) and with an external thread at the lower end. A sealing sleeve (3) threaded onto the outer thread and with an upper flange (34) to clamp a sealing washer (6) to the underside of the fitting. The sleeve has a double skinned female profile on the inside, with the inner wall having ratchet profiles. These interact with radial vanes (201) on an extension (21) under the plug, to provide axial movement when the plug is twisted. No external mechanism is required. The sleeves can be plastic- or fiber reinforced moldings.
