[origin: EP0967339A2] A method for fitting a balcony to a building has a natural stone plate (28a) bored with horizontal holes to take tensioning tie rods (31) which run from the outer edge of the plate to clamp the plate to a metal support frame (45). The support frame is fitted with mounting flanges or other girder sections (47) to secure the frame to the building via tie rods (48) through the wall of the building. For improved support the tie rods are positioned through the upper level of the balcony plate.
