[origin: WO9841131A1] The invention relates to a filtering device for making boiled beverages comprising a filter holder (1), and a filtering element (28) consisting of filter paper. Said filtering element (28) has a receiving area (76) for filling with extraction products such as ground coffee or tea leaves. Said extraction products produce extracts when brought into contact with hot water, with the result that a boiled beverage then flows out of the filtering element (28). During this process, the filtering element (28) is accommodated in said filter holder (1). The outer contour (29) of the holding area (76) of the filtering element (28) assumes an ellipsoidal shape. Said filtering element (28) is mechanically reinforced by folds (42, 48, 51, 52) in the filter paper. According to the invention, a filtering device of this type is much easier to use and percolating performance is also improved. At the same time, the insertion of a filtering element of this type (28) in a filter case (16) and filling thereof with ground coffee, for example, are improved. A filtering element (28) of this type is easy to produce and does not require any additional attachment elements.
