Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19755600A1] The invention relates to a system for controlling the supply of (2) a reduction agent to an NOx-accumulator catalytic converter (2) of an internal combustion engine (1) which runs on a lean fuel/air mixture at least at times. Said control system comprises an emission-sensor (4) which is located behind the NOx-accumulator catalytic converter in the direction of flow. The reduction agent is supplied at repeated, separate intervals and when the quantity of reduction agent supplied during a particular supply phase causes a reaction by the emission-sensor, the quantity supplied in a subsequent interval is reduced in comparison.
