The invention is characterized in that the cut of the gas bag (31) and the position and nature of the fastening device (41) are adapted to each other in such a way that the inflated gas bag (31) essentially does not cause any force to pass via the fastening device (41) to the vehicle frame (35, 37, 39) until the occupant impacts the gas bag.
