Abstract (en)
[origin: WO9836080A1] The present invention is to haloaliphatic dehalogenase enzymes capable of converting halogenated aliphatic substrate molecules to vicinal halohydrins, as well as to DNA sequences encoding the polypeptide of the enzymes, to expression constructs containing this DNA, and to methods for producing the enzymes by placing the expression constructs into host cells under conditions sufficient for the transformants to produce the dehalogenase. A process for immobilizing the enzyme on a solid support and use of the immobilized enzyme for converting a halogenated aliphatic hydrocarbon to an alcohol is also disclosed.
