[origin: FR2759387A1] The ring-shaped textile structure (30) is produced by unwinding a textile ribbon (24) in a can (26) forming several tiered up ring-shaped textile layers each consisting of a plurality of flat spires. The ribbon for instance comes directly from carding. The unwinding can be carried out by repetitively forming spires around the axis of a can. The tiered up layers of spires are interwoven, for instance by needle bonding. The method is applicable to the production of preforms for composite brake discs, in particular carbon-carbon composite.
