[origin: DE19709458A1] The invention relates to a method and a device for verifying the correct transport of sheet material, particularly for use in a money dispensing machine, whereby a mechanical sensor determines the thickness of the sheet material (10). Depending on the thickness of the sheet material (10), a magnetic field of a magnetic sensor (22, 24), through which a control current (I) passes, is modified and the voltage (UH) of said sensor verified. The control current (I) is set in such a way that the possibly amplified sensor voltage (S) lies within a predefined tolerance range (G1, G2) in the presence of a correct, single sheet (10) of a predefined type.
