[origin: DE19802325A1] An electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection for a solar cell assembly (SCA), especially used as a component for orbiting solar generators. The SCA consists of a conductive metallized cover glass, an adhesive layer and a solar cell. At least one part of a side surface (14, 16, 18, 20) of the SCA (2) is provided with a conductive layer (22) which conductively connects the conductive layer (6) on the cover glass (4) and the solar cell (10).
