Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9843397A1] This invention concerns a receiving circuit used in the construction of transmission systems with copper cables which can have differing characteristics, in particular, length and diameter. This receiving circuit contains a digital signal processing receiving unit (RX) which can be connected to a transmitting unit (TX) via a filter (FR) and a copper cable (SL1, SL2). The filter (FR) is provided with a high-pass characteristic for compensation of distortions from attenuation so that signal components in the low-frequency range are at least attenuated so that the dynamics of the signals transmitted via copper cable (SL1, SL2) via conductors of the largest possible diameter are reduced so that the resolution of the digital component of the receiving unit (RX) suffices for its processing, and the signal components in the low-frequency range are maximally dampened, so that the maximal attenuation arising in the frequency range used without the filter (FR) scarcely increases after use of the filter (FR) with copper cables (SL1, SL2) of the smallest possible diameter conductor.
