[origin: EP0970820A2] Signatures hang on the saddle chain (1) and have first and second sides, the first side (5) hang on one side of the chain and the second side (6) hang on an opposite side of the chain. The device includes a pair of transport members, having first and second belts (7) arranged opposite to each other for gripping and transporting the first side of the bundle of signatures between them. The belts are arranged at an angle of more than 90 degrees and less than 180 degrees with respect to the normal direction of a wire clincher. AN Independent claim is also included for a saddle binding machine.
