Abstract (en)
An oil-water emulsion for photographic application said emulsion comprising oil, water, gelatin and a surfactant, said gelatin consisting of a) a fraction of gelatin molecules with a molecular weight smaller than 70 kDa, said fraction forming 30-90% by weight on the basis of the total weight of gelatin in the emulsion, b) a fraction of gelatin molecules with a molecular weight higher than 130 kDa, said fraction forming 5-38% by weight on the basis of the total weight of gelatin in the emulsion, c) the fractions of gelatin molecules with a molecular weight higher than 130 kDa and with a molecular weight smaller than 70 kDa are further related by having as lower limit % fraction > 130 kDa = 0.455 x (100-Ä% fraction < 70 kDaÜ) and as upper limit % fraction > 130 kDa = 0.606 x (100-Ä% fraction < 70 kDaÜ) d) whereby in total Ä% fraction < 70 kDaÜ + Ä% fraction > 130 kDaÜ ≤ 100%.
