Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9827847A1] The invention relates to a process for forming a two-component, resiliently flexible joint in a personal grooming implement, whereby elastomer is injected into a void space (13) in a plastic handle (5) or head (2) at a temperature of at least 245 DEG C, thereby fusing the elastomer to the plastic and forming the resiliently flexible joint. The invention further relates to a personal grooming implement including a resiliently flexible joint between a plastic material having a Vicat softening point of less than 245 DEG C, and an elastomer, wherein the elastomer is fused to the plastic material such that the elastomer can be stretched to at least 120 % of its unstressed length without separation of the elastomer from the plastic. The invention provides improved adhesion between the elastomer and the plastic so that flexible joints are better able to withstand repeated flexing. The durability of the implement is thereby improved.
