[origin: WO9842682A1] The invention relates to benzyl uracils of formula (I) wherein R<1> represents H, halogen, CH3; R<2> and R<3> represent H, CN, SCN, halogen, C1-C4-halogen alkyl, C1-C4-halogen alkoxy, C1-C4-halogen alkylthio; R<4> represents R<3> + C1-C4-alkyl, C1-C4-alkoxy, C1-C6-alkyl-NH-CO-; R<5> represents C1-C4 alkyls bonded via O or S at position alpha or beta , carrying a group -C(=NOR<7>)-R<8>, R<7> having the same meaning as R<20> and R<8> representing H, C1-C3-alkyl, optionally substituted CHO, COOH, COSH or amino carbonyl; and R<6> in position alpha or beta , and their salts. The invention also relates to a method for producing the benzyl uracils and to their use as herbicides and/or for desiccating/defoliating plants.
