[origin: WO9845550A1] The invention relates to a roof tile (10) having a water groove (14) in one longitudinal edge (12) and a covering groove (18) on the opposite longitudinal edge (16). The grooves (14, 18) extend along the entire length of the tile (10) and have longitudinal ribs (24, 26 or 48, 50) as well as areas without longitudinal ribs (24, 26; 48, 50) on the base (30) edge, which areas from a flat partition line when the tiles are placed next to each other. In order to create a tile which can be displaced in longitudinal direction, the areas without the longitudinal ribs (24, 26; 40, 50) are raised (32 or 52) in relation to the basic plane (30, 44) of the water groove (14) or of the covering groove (18), so that these areas can rest one on top of the other when the tiles are placed next to each other, and the longitudinal ribs (24, 26, 48, 50) are flattened towards to the raised areas (32, 52).
