[origin: WO9844574A1] Battery packaging construction of flexible plastic barrier structures (15) are useful for battery cells (10) or battery packs, to protect the battery components from outside contamination. One or more battery cells or packs are packaged between the barrier structures, which may be of extruded or laminated construction, and joined by heat sealing. Each barrier structure includes at least a first layer (16), which is a sealant layer; a second layer (17), which is a water vapor barrier layer; a third layer (18), which is an oxygene barrier layer; and an outside layer (19), which can be of the same type as one of the other layers, or a separate layer which provides increased mechanical strength to the package.
