Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0972854A2] A special steel pickling process, employing a hot aqueous hydrochloric acid solution, is new. A special steel pickling process uses an aqueous hydrochloric acid solution at ≥ 40 degrees C. Preferred Features: The solution contains one or more oxidizing agents selected from nitric acid, chlorine, hydrogen peroxide, chlorine-oxygen compounds, other chlorine-containing acids (e.g. perchloric acid), chromium-oxygen compounds (e.g. CrO3) and ferric chloride, in amount such that at least half of the dissolved metal is in the form of ferric chloride.
