Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9846930A1] A composite elastomeric spring (26) made from a first member of elastomeric material (10) having a first durometer hardness and a second member of elastomeric material (20) having a second durometer hardness is disclosed. The second member (20) has a predetermined initial shape complementary to the first member (10). The second member (20) is positioned adjacent the first member (10) in surrounding relation about the first member (10). A force is then applied to the preform composite spring member (26) sufficient to simultaneously compress the first member (10) and the second member (20), thereby changing the shapes of the first member (10) and the second member (20) such that the configurations of the first member (10) and the second member (20) are permanently changed from their respective predetermined initial shape. The force is then removed from the first member (10) and the second member (20).
