[origin: EP0975203A2] The method involves regularly checking the light intensity in the cubicle and detecting a fault based on preset values for light or dark. Faults are indicated for service personnel or signaled to a background system. The measurement circuit is activated at a predefined time at which the lighting is known to be intact. The light intensity is measured on successive days at a predefined time when the lighting should be on, and a value for light or dark is determined and stored. The measured value is compared with the stored value and a fault detected and indicated or signaled if they disagree. An independent claim is also included for a circuit for implementing the method.
