Abstract (en)
[origin: DE19715510A1] A coupling (10) is used for mechanically and optically connecting an endoscope (12) to a camera module (14) so as to transmit images from the endoscope to the camera module. A first cylindrical pin (22) projects from one coupling end (20) of the endoscope (12) in the coupling direction (50) and contains a proximal end section of the optical waveguide system. A second, approximately cylindrical pin (30) also extends from the coupling end (20) in the coupling direction, is longer and has a larger diameter than the first pin (22). A proximal end section of the image transmission system is located inside the second pin (30). The second pin (30) co-operates with a locking mechanism (82) arranged on the camera module (14) for locking the coupling (10). The first and second pins are spaced apart and the coupling end (55) of the camera module (14) has matching receptacles which correspond to the two pins (22, 30) and into which the pins (22, 30) penetrate. The bottom of the receptacle into which the second pin (30) penetrates is optically connected to the image recording system of the camera module (14) and the receptacle in which the shorter, first pin (22) can be received has an optical fibre (64).
