[origin: DE19757008A1] The sensor has a magnet (3) attached to a monitored component and a co-operating magnetoresistive sensor attached to a relatively moving component and facing one of the magnet poles and aligned with the magnet field lines, which provides an electrical signal dependent on the direction (4) of the magnetic field lines. A zero adjustment function may be provided by using two sensors with their outputs set to the same value when no angular variation is present.
