[origin: WO9745826A1] Described is a colour display which, owing to the use of new PDLC monochromic displays (4) and three-colour diode background illumination (1, 2, 3), have an extremely compact design and a very low energy consumption while giving a higher luminous efficiency. Since the display has no moving parts, it has a long service life. The equipment can also be used for the simultaneous projection of high-definition colour images in daylight on to projection screens. It is therefore possible to project high-quality pictures and texts from newspapers and books so that they are clear and easily legible. The images can be broadcast over TV channels and paid for in encoded form directly by the consumer using phone cards or similar means of payment.
