Abstract (en)
The road roller (1) is a self-propelled machine with a cylindrical roller (3) at the leading end to compress the road surface material, such as of gravel or sand. A plate unit (7) is at the trailing end to smooth and compress the road surface, to ensure that the upper layers of the road surface are consistently compacted. The trailing smoothing/compressing unit (7) is operated by a hydraulic pump (10) with an oil motor (8) at variable rotary speeds. The trailing unit (7) has a height adjustment (6), and a setting mechanism (11) to alter the gap between it and the roller (3).

Bei einer Straßenwalze (1) mit einer zylindrischen Walze (3) zum Verdichten von rolligem Material wie Kies oder Sand ist der Walze (3) ein Plattenverdichter (7) in Fahrtrichtung der Walze (3) nachgeschaltet. Dadurch wird eine gleichmäßige Verdichtung des Materials erreicht und der bisher aufgetretene Effekt einer zu geringen Verdichtung des Materials nahe seiner Oberfläche verhindert. <IMAGE>
