[origin: WO9848950A1] In an air separation process for wood fibres which contain particles of impurities, the fibres are added together with a vertical, descending stream of auxiliary gas (13) to a substantially irrotational stream of carrier gas (18) slanted relative to the vertical, descending stream. The particles of impurities are loosened from the fibres and eliminated, whereas the cleaned wood fibres are separated from the streams of auxiliary and carrier gas.
