[origin: WO9850183A1] The invention relates to a casting roll for continuous casting of a metal strip, comprising a roll core (9) and a roll jacket (10) which consists of a heat conductive material and which covers said roll core. Peripheral cooling slits (14) are arranged between the roll core and the roll jacket, said cooling slits being connected to supply (12) and discharge (13) ducts for the coolant. In order to ensure an even dissipation of heat through the roll jacket (10) with minimal use of coolant and clearly fixed flow conditions, the coolant is conducted from the essentially radial supply channel (12) into the cooling slits (14) and from the cooling slits (14) into the essentially radial discharge channel (13) by means of a distribution element (17) which can be inserted into said cooling slits (14).
