[origin: DE19718137A1] The invention relates to a method and a device for controlling laser equipment enabling variable coupling of different high power laser to various program-controlled machines involving simple means and excluding faulty connections with a high degree of security. According to the invention, this is done by guiding the connections of the beam guidance system to the laser generator connections and the machine connections as well as the connection of the lines for the control signals to the corresponding components via connection elements with an integrated security code. The invention relates to a method and a device for controlling laser processing units in which programmable laser generators are connected to laser processing heads, which are used to process material in program-controlled machines, via flexible steel guiding elements. The control signals of the different machine control systems are transmitted to one or several laser generators via a central control unit.
