Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9849420A1] Door closing mechanisms with closing springs as energy accumulators and a hydraulically damped closing movement are already known in the art. Said mechanisms comprise a housing (4) mounted on the door wing or door frame whose driven shaft (5) is connected to the door frame or wing by a force-transmitting rod assembly (6-8). The housing and rod assembly are visible at any given moment. According to the invention, the housing (4) and the rod assembly (6-8) of the mechanism mounted on the door frame or wing is completely covered by a hood (11) with a flat or convex curved front face. The hood is either fixed to the wing or to the frame or consists of two individual hoods (21, 22) with the same axial length. Preferably, the hood or the individual hoods extend over the entire width of the door opening, thus covering the upper area of the wing and the adjacent area of the frame. The hood has a low depth by virtue of the fact that the force-transmitting rod assembly (6-8) is arranged in a substantially parallel position in relation to the plane of the wing when the wing is shut. The hood blends into the door in an inconspicuous manner. The inventive device can be used for assembly on the hinged side of the door or opposite in addition to top mounting of the housing and rod assembly.
