[origin: WO9849507A1] A refrigerator (10) has a compressor and at least two evaporators interconnected in series and having different refrigerating capacities for cooling the compartments (13, 15) of the refrigerator down to different temperatures. A lighting device (20) and a temperature sensor are arranged in the compartment having the highest temperature (15). The temperature sensor supplies to a regulator (18) a signal which at least approximately corresponds to the temperature in the compartment. The lighting device (20) serves as a heating device. A dimming resistor designed as a capacitor (24) can be connected before the lighting device to reduce the luminous intensity of the lighting device.
