[origin: EP0979897A2] The assembly for online production of paper has a multinip soft calender supercalender station (11) after the drying section (2) of a papermaking machine. It has a number of roller gaps (121-129), where the paper web (3) passes through. A wetting station (7), with at least one jet (8,9) to deliver a spray mist at the web (3), is at a gap from the supercalender (11). The paper web (3) enters the first roller gap (121) of the supercalender 0.6-1.2 seconds after wetting, and pref. 0.8-1.0 seconds.
