[origin: WO9850667A2] A directional drilling apparatus is disclosed. In particular, but not solely, directional drilling apparatus which can be used in confined spaces or utilised in locations close to obstacles such as fences, houses, buildings, etc. Means for pushing forward or advancing a drill head are also disclosed. The means for pushing forward or advancing a drill head being of a design which provides a large amount of forward thrust for the size of the actuating unit and the drilling apparatus. The drilling apparatus is articulated from a source of power such as a prime mover and thus can be used in confined spaces.
