[origin: WO9850905A1] The invention relates to a method for selectively controlling the sound field (3) radiated from an active sound source (1) by means of several lambda /4 resonators (2), i.e. to prevent sound radiation of a predetermined frequency f>0<. To this end, several lambda /4 resonators (2) are so fitted to the active sound source (1)that their openings (6) are adjacent to the surface (9) of the sound source (1). The air pressure fluctuations and air currents produced by the active sound source (1) on its surface (9) interact with the openings (6) of the lambda /4 resonators (2). Predetermined frequencies f>0< are eliminated from the radiated sound field by appropriate selection of the lambda /4 resonators.
