The gas jets (3) emit flames (8) surrounding an ionization electrode (7) which is attached to a stem (9) offset by a distance (a) at a distance (b) from the jets. An ionizing current is carried to a terminal in a bearing (5) which may be rotated in line with the burner flame height.

Eine Ionisationselektrode (4) zur Überwachung und Regelung des Verbrennungsprozesses eines Brenners, insbesondere eines Gasbrenners, so auszugestalten, daß diese ein lastunabhängiges und zuverlässiges Ionisationssignal liefert, wird mit der Erfindung vorgeschlagen, daß wenigstens ein Abschnitt (7) der Ionisationselektrode (4) in den Brennerbereich (2) ragt und der Abstand (b, b', b'') des Abschnitts (7) von den Brennerdüsen (3) veränderbar ist. <IMAGE>
