[origin: DE19721212A1] The invention relates to a cost-effective method for adjusting the destination of a strip of paper (3, 4) in a web-fed rotary press. According to the inventive method, coded retrievable signal information (77, 78) is applied to the paper strip (3, 4) prior to the printing unit (11-14). Said information is scanned by signal reading devices (49, 51; 53-56; 58-69) and forwarded to adjusting elements to set the path of the paper strip and to adjusting elements to synchronize the printing units (11-14) and the cutting unit (28, 38) of the paper strip (3, 4).
