[origin: WO9852442A1] The invention relates to the base of a bed comprising two parallel elastic longitudinal bars (1) arranged at a distance from each other, and several grate-shaped cross slats (2). The ends of these cross slats (2) are pushed into pockets (3) which are fitted on the longitudinal bars (1), perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction. Each longitudinal bar (1) has at least one fastening band (52) which is fastened perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction and in the direction of the other longitudinal bar. The neighbouring cross slat (2) has a button (20) for attaching the fastening band (52) to the cross slat (2). This structure guarantees stable and non-ageing fastening of the cross slats (2) to the longitudinal bars (1) with minimal means. It is also easy to assemble.
