The method uses a franking machine having a thermal impression head (80), in front of which a thermally sensitive recording support (86) is passed, predisposed on a predetermined part of the article (68) to be stamped in front of the impression element of the thermal impression head. The next step includes putting the recording support in intimate contact with the impression elements. The heating of the thermal impression elements is also selectively controlled for imprinting the postal imprint on the thermo-sensitive recording support.

Procédé d'impression thermique d'une empreinte postale sur un article de courrier au moyen d'une machine à affranchir munie d'une tête d'impression thermique (80) dans lequel on fait tout d'abord passer un support d'enregistrement thermosensible (86) pré-déposé sur au moins une partie déterminée de l'article de courrier à affranchir (68) devant des éléments d'impression thermiques de la tête d'impression thermique, ensuite on met en contact intime le support d'enregistrement avec les éléments d'impression et on commande alors sélectivement le chauffage de ces éléments d'impression thermique pour imprimer l'empreinte postale sur ce support d'enregistrement thermosensible. Article de courrier, tel qu'une enveloppe, muni au moins en partie d'un support d'enregistrement thermosensible et destiné à la mise en oeuvre du procédé d'impression thermique. <IMAGE>
