[origin: WO9854988A1] A reservoir system (14) for a multi-layer stream of rod-like articles such as cigarettes is movable laterally so as to vary the radial position at which respective infeed and outfeed conveyors (16, 18) engage with upper and lower spiral conveyors (14A, 14B) of the reservoir and so vary the capacity of the reservoir by varying the length of the stream on the spiral conveyors (20A, 20B). In alternative arrangements the reservoir may comprise spiral conveyors (14A, 14B) which take the form of shallow helixes, and the infeed and outfeed conveyors (116, 118) may be pivotable or laterally displaceable to track the spiral conveyors.
