[origin: DE19722317C1] The following are claimed: (1) a human ryanodin receptor type 3 (hRyR3) polypeptide having at least 96% (preferably 100%) aminoacid sequence homology with a defined sequence of 4866 aminoacids; (2) a functional fragment, variant or derivative of the polypeptide of (1) having the biological activity of native hRyR3; (3) a chimeric polypeptide comprising at least a fragment of the polypeptide of (1) or (2) and at least a fragment of another polypeptide; (4) a nucleic acid coding for the polypeptide of (1), (2) or (3); (5) a nucleic acid which hybridises under stringent conditions with the nucleic acid of (4); and (6) a pharmaceutical comprising a nucleic acid complementary to the nucleic acid of (4) or (5).
