Abstract (en)
[origin: WO9904003A1] DNA sequence from petunia which encodes a MADS box protein indicated FBP10 and having the amino acid sequence given in SEQ ID NO:2 or a functionally homologous protein. Said DNA sequence comprises the FBP10 gene having the cDNA nucleotide sequence given in SEQ ID NO:1 or a functionally homologous gene. Inactivation of the function of said DNA sequence, if present as an endogenous gene in a plant, results in inhibition of flowering. Further the invention discloses a process for producing a transgenic plant in which flowering is inhibited, comprising inhibiting the expression of endogenous FBP10 gene or a homologous gene.
