[origin: WO9949420A1] The invention relates to a method for preventing the falsification of documents comprising a photograph, especially a facial-view photograph. The invention is characterized in that the photograph is converted into a digital image file or is present in the form of a digital image file into which a secret image present in binary form is introduced in such a way that the digital image file of the image is divided into "parquet cells" whose number is equal to the number of picture elements of the secret image. The invention is further characterized in that a parameter function is created which assigns a bivalent result value to each parquet cell on the basis of parameter values which describe each picture element. The bivalent result values of all parquet cells form a bivalent position matrix. By means of an optimisation method the parameter values of the picture elements of the individual parquet cells are modified in such a way that on the one hand the changes made to the digital image file of the photograph of the document do not result in any visually perceptible changes and on the other hand the result of the application of the parameter function on the individual parquet cells leads to the formation of a bivalent position matrix which corresponds to the binary values of the secret image. The photograph containing the information of the secret image is affixed to the document or printed out together with said document.
