Abstract (en)

[origin: FR2775812A1] The invention concerns a method for hiding a primary digital information (Iinf1) in an initial digital document, in particular an initial multimedia document (Iorig), characterised in that it consists in: first breaking down the initial document (Iorig), by determining a reference digital document (Iref) a function of the initial digital document (Iorig) in particular by a fractal method, and a secondary digital information (Iinf2) a function of the primary digital information to be hidden, such that the sum of the reference digital document (Iref) and said secondary digital information (Iinf2) is a substantially modified document (I'orig) equal to the initial digital document (Iorig); inserting the secondary digital information (Iinf2) thus determined in said initial document, by computing a modified image (I'orig) constituted by the sum of said reference digital document (Iref) and said secondary digital information (Iinf2)so as to obtain a modified digital document (I'orig) close to the initial document (Iorig) but integrating substantially indiscernible the primary digital information (Iinf1) to be hidden. Said method enables to retrieve digital information hidden in a multimedia document in a dual manner. Said method, based on the concept of auto-similarity, and ensures, under certain conditions, that the input information is not visible, prevents image manipulations, and can finally be retrieved without providing knowledge of the original documents.
