[origin: EP0985453A1] The centrifuge channel (3) has a spiral formation, with an increasing pitch from the radially outer end (4) to the radially inner end (6). The pitch is defined at one point (A) on the spiral as the angle ( alpha ) between the tangent (T1) of a circle (K) round the rotary axis at this point and the tangent (T2) of the spiral at the point. The centrifuge chamber, to separate cells, has a centrifuge channel (3) with an inlet (8) for the cell suspension and especially blood, and at least one outlet (5) for a fraction of the cell suspension and particularly the erythrocyte fraction, with a radially outer side wall to define the channel. The centrifuge channel (3) has a spiral formation, with an increasing pitch from the radially outer end (4) to the radially inner end (6).
